Laundry Room Remodel

Our house was built in 1920, and was completely gutted and remodeled 4 years ago. We still have the original foundation and a few of the interior wall structures were kept. That being said, we have some weird, uneven floors, doorways, and ceilings. I love our house so much, and all of the character it has. We started this weekend working on making the house more "us". I figured we should start small, so we chose to redo our laundry room. I had big plans for some cabinets, and bright green walls...and of course, changed my mind a million times. The ceiling in our laundry room is so low I can barely stand up in there haha That being said, it was impossible to find cabinets to fit between the top of the machines and the ceiling...and we weren't about to pay for custom shelving. We chose a paint color, a simple wooden shelf, and a little rod for the hangers.

Here is how the room/ closet looked before...not horrible, but really boring.

During:

We started by taking all of the "stuff" out. Then, we moved out the washer and dryer, and took the existing wire shelving down. We taped all of the edges off, removed the cover plates, and started filling in and patching the nail holes. After an hour of waiting for that to dry, we got to start painting! It only took 2 coats, and took about 2 hours to dry before we could install the shelf and replace the cover plates. I'm so happy with how it turned out!!!

Here is the finished room:

The color that I finally decided on is Dark Harbor from Benjamin Moore. It's a dark bluish teal. We actually told the guy at the paint counter at Lowes we wanted that color, and he color matched it and we ended up with the exact same color from Valspar, and to make it even better it's washable! We also purchased the wooden shelf, wall brackets, and clothing rod from Lowes. The baskets, and Meyer's cleaning supplies are from Target.

It feels so much roomier, and now I just might look forward to doing laundry ;)  A hugggeee thank you to Andy for basically doing everything! Love you (: (: (: (It can be a challenge entertaining a one year old while we both tried to work on this haha)

Thanks for checking it out!!
