Marbled Tea Light Candles

Let me just say, this is one of my favorite DIYs I've ever made. These candle holders are easy to make, and can be used over and over.

So this is kind of 2 projects in one. First, I'll show you how to make the candle holders, then I'll show you how to marble them!!

Let's get right into this. Here is what you need for the candle holders:

Plaster of Paris (About $10 at Walmart for 5 bags)
Ice cube tray (mine is from Amazon)
Tea light candles
Measuring cup
Bowl
Mixer (I used a skewer)

This project can get a little messy, so have some paper towels handy!!

First, mix your plaster according to the directions. It's typically 2 parts plaster to 1 part water. Plaster sets pretty quickly, so work fast! Once our mixture is about the consistency of pancake batter, pour it into the ice cube tray.

Next, push in a tea light candle down into each section. And let this sit for at least an hour so the plaster can harden.

Once the plaster is dry, it's time to pop the candles out. All I did is turn the tray over, and slowly push each candle out with my thumbs onto a paper towel.

Each one should look something like this:

Now for the fun part!!

Here is what you'll need:

Disposable tray/pan
Nail polish
Skewer
Lots of paper towels!!

To begin, fill your pan with room temperature water. Then, slowly pour in nail polish. Hold the bottle close to the water as you pour so the polish sits on top instead of sinking to the bottom.

Continue with the rest of your colors...

Again, nail polish dries very quickly, so work fast!!

Swirl around the polish with a skewer to create your designs.

Ok, have some paper towels ready, and pick up your first candle. Gently place it into the water, and slowly pull it back up and out, turn it over and lay it on the paper towel.

Once you've dipped all of your candles, leave them to dry over night. It takes a while for the paint/water mixture to dry and stick to the plaster.

Now it's time to put these little guys everywhere!! They also make great gifts!

Thanks for stopping by & ask me any questions you may have :)
